Children’s book promotes Dementia awareness

Tahira Junaid invites you and your family this Saturday to the launch of her new book ‘I Forgot?’- a book aimed to educate children whilst encouraging people to speak openly about the increasingly common condition that affects 850,000 people in the UK.

The event which takes place at Altrincham library at 2pm will consist of a short talk about dementia by Bluesci, book reading and signing and fun memory games for adults and children to enjoy-which will be a true reflection of the light-hearted, informative book. According to the Alzheimers Society, by 2025, the number of people with dementia will increase to over 1 million, soaring to 2 million by 2051. As the numbers rapidly increase, there is no doubt that it is important to increase awareness in order  to reduce social stigma. The 28-paged book also encourages children who have relatives who suffer from dementia to empathise, which will reduce social avoidance.

This is a free event and light refreshments will be available.  If you would like to attend, you can book your place at Trafford Library helpdesk or contact 0161 912 189. Book now as there are limited spaces!

When: Saturday 3rd December at 2pm
